General Questions

Below are my most common questions regarding my business, design, and photography. If you have more questions, please contact me here!


Do you design or make stuff or are you a photographer?

I do it all! The great thing about my business is that I have a wide variety of backgrounds. I’ve been creating, making, and printing designs for the last 7 years and run a print shop from my home. I’ve also been doing photography on the side for the last 3 years. Recently, I’ve combined the two and created a way for my clients to get design (i.e. birthday invites, holiday cards, save the dates etc.) along with the option to have me take the photos. Or, if you’ve booked a photography session with me, you have the option of adding on printed cards, etc and some sessions include them already!

You may also see a few handmade items in my shop and on my blog. I design and create props, home decor, and more. These can be used for sessions or you can purchase them to keep as well. I do bring props I’ve made to my photography sessions based on my client’s preferences.


What are your qualifications?

I’ve owned my own business for the last 7 years and I’ve been designing and photographing things since High School. If paper is important to you I have a Bachelor’s in Communication and Business, a Master’s in Multimedia Design, and a Certification from the New York Institute of Photography. I’m a hands-on person who loves to learn. I’m probably in the middle of another course right now.


What’s with the name?

I know, it’s kind of weird, huh? Well, if you read my about page, you know travel is my favorite. So, 7 years ago when I started this Journey (yes, I went there), I knew I wanted my business name to have some sort of travel-related theme to it. I also didn’t want to limit myself to just one type of product because I wasn’t entirely sure where this business would take me. I love planning designs for special events and being a part of other people’s events. However, I definitely didn’t want the word “events” in my name, it was too restricting. Realizing this, I began searching for other words that can mean “events”. I finally narrowed it down to “journeys” because it ties back to my first true love of travel.

After that, I realized that I adore when I get to design everything from the save the date to the thank you card for a wedding or the invite to the happy birthday banner for a first birthday. When everything matches, my heart is happy. Then I came across the word “aesthetic” meaning “concerned with the beauty or appreciation of beauty”. I fell in love with that word and had to use it. From there, I just put the two together and have loved it ever since.


Design Specific

Questions regarding design

I love your designs, but want to print at home, can I?

Absolutely! I recommend shopping on Etsy for most of my digital stuff, but you can find some in my shop here. Or, if you see a design you want me to make as a digital file but don’t see that listing, just contact me.


I love your instant downloads but DON’T want to print myself, what are my options?

Most of my listings are listed as printed designs as well that are shipped t\\\\\\\\\ you, but if you don’t see what you’re looking for, just contact me and I can set that up for you.


Do you design ____________ (fill in with your own product)?

I pretty much design everything. Maybe not everything is posted on every site I sell on but there’s a wide range of things I design. You can find pillows, door mats, blankets, and more on Zazzle. I also do logo design for other small businesses, which isn’t something listed on my site. If you’re interested that or have questions, contact me here.


Do you print other people’s designs?

The short answer is no. If you see something you like online, I’m not opposed to including an aspect of that design into my own but I don’t take other people’s work and copy it. I wouldn’t want someone to do that with my work either. I’m not limited to what’s in my shop, but if you want something different, I can work with you to come up with a new design.


What kind of paper do you print on?

For basic invitations, cards, etc, I print on 110lb (so very thick), linen card stock. This gives my printed items a texture which I love. For photo items I print on 60Lb high gloss photo paper. It’s lovely! I do offer samples as well. If you’re in the area, I’m happy to meet up, or contact me to order samples of my work.


What happens if my product is damaged in the mail?

I ensure every item I ship and any damaged product will be resent or refunded if damaged. Please contact me within 24 hours of receiving the product with photos of the damage.


What if there’s a mistake on my print order?

Any mistakes NOT approved by the client will be re-printed. Please note that once a design is approved for printing, there are no refunds unless the final design looks DIFFERENT from the emailed proof. Aesthetic Journeys does not refund for changing your mind on custom products.


What if I just changed my mind about a product?

You can return any NON-customized item within 30 days of receiving the product. A full refund will be issued once the product is received and is in good condition.


Photography Specific Questions

What’s required to book a date?

In order to book your date, I require an initial payment of 50% of your session fee (to be paid through my online booking system or mailed check) as well as a signed contract to secure your date.


What is your weather policy?

It is up to my discretion as the photographer to cancel any sessions due to weather. Should I decide to cancel because of the weather, I will re-book your date for no charge or refund your initial payment should a date not work for you.


What if I need to reschedule?

Life happens, right? I know that, and because of that, I do offer the ability to cancel or reschedule your session if done so at least 5 business days before your session. Should you need to reschedule less than 5 business days before your session, a $50 rescheduling fee will apply. If you do need to cancel with less than 5 business days notice, you will forfeit the initial payment. This is to pay for my time planning your session as well as holding the date for your session.


Do you travel? If so, how far and what’s it going to cost me?

I will travel anywhere, literally. It’s my first love. I am based in the Texas Hill Country and specifically in San Antonio. Because I want to be accessible to all of the Texas hill country I’ve created pricing based on the following areas: San Antonio, San Marcos, New Braunfels, Austin, Fredericksburg, and Kerrville. Prices listed on my site are for San Antonio only. If you’re interested in a different area, please contact me for those prices. Additionally, if you are outside of these areas, please contact me for travel rates. Prices start at .50cents/mile each way.


Do you offer printed photos?

Absolutely! Once your gallery is live you’ll be able to order prints online or purchase one of my packages for discounted rates. You can see a sample of one of my packages below.

Can I print my own photos?

Yes, you do receive the rights to print your photos. However, please keep in mind Aesthetic Journeys is not responsible for the quality of printed photos outside of my studio. If you have questions regarding what kind of paper I use, please let me know before your session so I can bring samples.


How long before I get my photos?

I like knowing when things are going to happen too. I’ll usually let you know at the end of your session when you can expect a sneak peak on social media (as this varies). However, my turnaround times are between 5-10 business days. I strive to adhere to these times, but should something happen beyond my control, it is included in your contract that you will receive your images within 20 days.


Is there online viewing? If so, for how long?

Yes, you’ll receive a link to private online viewing of your photos at the same time that I email your zip file of images. You can order prints in the gallery for 60 days after it goes live.


My session includes a design but I’m not falling in love with any of the ones on your site, can we do something different?

Yes, I can create a brand new design just for you. There may be additional charges depending on the complexity of the design.


Can I bring props to my session?

Yes, you can. I love props. If you have questions on what you should bring, I can help with that too once we book your session.


Do you provide any props? If so, how do you decide what to bring?

Yes, I do. I always bring a blanket for sitting on to all my family and maternity sessions. For newborns, I bring a couple of headbands and blankets as well. Depending on the package you choose, there may be more props included. When you book your session, you will receive a questionnaire about your expectations, style, etc which helps me choose what to bring. I will most likely contact you with options as well if I can’t decide. This is a good time to ask me all sorts of questions about props and what’s included.
